Research Interest

Decision Analysis

Interested in modeling of decisions using Analytical Hierarchy Process, Analytical Network Process, Influence Diagrams, Decision Trees, Game Theory, Multiple Attribute Utility Theory etc.


Interested in time series and econometric forecasting methods. This includes work on different forecasting method such as exponential smoothing or autoregressive integrated moving average method to do the trend analysis and also find the underlying causes associated with the data.

Inventory Models

Interested in the design of algorithms for inventory models with the aim of devising new computational approaches for which one can prove strong worst-case bounds on their performance. This includes work on deterministic models such as the joint replenishment problem and its generalizations, and stochastic inventory models such as the multi-period newsvendor problem. These theoretical investigations are complemented by empirical studies to extend the results into practical implementations for computing good solutions.

Operations Research

Mathematical Programming is one of the most important, exciting, and influential topics in Industrial Engineering and Operations Research (IEOR). Both from a theoretical and practical perspective, Mathematical Programming influence most all aspects of engineering design, analysis, and synthesis. The course covers following areas:

  • Linear Programming (LP),Graphical Solution of 2-dimensional LPs
  • Simplex Algorithm and Software Programs
  • Duality and Sensitivity Analysis, Dual Simplex
  • Network Programming, Integer Programming
  • Nonlinear Programming, Dynamic Programming
  • Game Theory, Queuing Models, Simulation

Inventory Management

This module introduces inventory theory and its application to the management of inventory systems. Many of the models developed will be for the single item, single stage inventory system, considering stationary, time-varying, and probabilistic conditions.
