Dr. A. B. M. Mainul Bari is currently working as an Associate Professor in the Department of Industrial and Production Engineering (IPE) at the Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET), Dhaka, Bangladesh. He obtained both his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees (both with summa cum laude) from the Department of IPE, BUET. He was awarded the prestigious UGC Prime Minister's Gold Medal in 2015 for obtaining the highest CGPA in the entire Mechanical Engineering Faculty during his B.Sc. Engineering program. He obtained his Ph.D. in Industrial Engineering from the University of Texas at Arlington (UTA), USA, in 2020, with a perfect 4.00/4.00. He was a recipient of the prestigious STEM Fellowship from the US Government during the entire duration of his Ph.D. in the USA. 

His current research interests include: linear and non-linear optimization, decision analytics, data analytics, business analytics, risk management, machine learning (applications), sustainability analysis, econometrics, environmental management, supply chain, and logistics management. He has published many research articles in various reputed journal groups, such as Elsevier, Springer, Taylor & Francis, Emerald, Plos, and so on. He received several research grants in recognition of his ongoing research activities, including the Basic Research Grant and two CASR Research Grants from BUET. He has participated in many international conferences in the USA, Turkey, and Europe so far. 

Many students who graduated and researched under his supervision (UG and PG) have later pursued higher education with full funding at various reputed R1 universities in the USA, Canada, Australia, and so on. Many of his former students are currently teaching in various reputed foreign and domestic universities. Many are also pursuing successful careers as engineers and managers in various reputed international industries and corporations.
